There’s little scarier than realising some flooding is a lot deeper than it appeared, when stuck behind a stopped car wheel-deep in water.
 

On the ground, we were guided though a series of training exercises. We were briefed on the correct sequence of drills and checks to carry out during various stages of the jump.

Upon leaving the plane, we would immediately arch forward, counting slowly for four seconds; “one thousand… two thousand… three thousand… four thousand… check canopy!”. [...]

Remind me to never accept a lift in my brother’s car again. Me, Alex, and Steve ended up pushing it back to the office as it broke down on the way back from lunch.
